A 24‑year‑old Nigerian man has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the United Kingdom after being convicted of killing a woman in a violent street assault in Leicester.

The attack occurred when the man, reportedly under the influence of cannabis, lost control of his car, crashed, and left the vehicle. As the 56‑year‑old victim walked nearby, he suddenly attacked her, striking her repeatedly, which led to her death.

Police discovered the suspect in possession of a large amount of cannabis and several mobile phones. He was later tried at Leicester Crown Court, where a jury found him guilty of murder.

He was handed a life sentence, with a minimum term to serve before becoming eligible for parole.

The victim’s family and local authorities described the incident as sudden, senseless, and tragic, leaving the community in shock over the brutal nature of the crime.
