The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested Lagos socialite and nightclub owner, Mike Eze Nwalie Nwogu, popularly known as Pretty Mike, following a midnight raid on his club in Victoria Island, Lagos.
The operation, which took place in the early hours of Sunday, targeted Proxy Nightclub located at No. 7 Akin Adesola Street. According to NDLEA spokesperson Femi Babafemi, officers received intelligence reports about a “drug-themed party” being hosted at the venue and began undercover surveillance from 11 p.m. on Saturday.
At about 3 a.m., operatives moved in and disrupted the event in line with the agency’s standard procedures. Over 100 guests were arrested for screening, including Pretty Mike, who was identified as the owner of the club.
Cartons of illicit substances were reportedly seized from the club’s store and several attendees. The confiscated items included Loud, a strong variant of cannabis, and canisters of nitrous oxide (laughing gas).
“The raid followed credible intelligence about the drug party,” Babafemi said. “Our officers infiltrated the event before executing the operation at 3 a.m. on Sunday.”
Pretty Mike remains in custody as investigations continue, while the agency has yet to confirm whether formal charges will be filed.
NDLEA Chairman, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (Retd.), praised the officers for the successful operation and reiterated the agency’s commitment to a balanced drug control strategy combining enforcement, education, and public awareness.
The raid forms part of a wider NDLEA crackdown on narcotics across the country. In related operations, the agency intercepted 70 parcels of cocaine concealed in cocoa butter cream containers bound for London. The 3.6kg consignment was seized at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, leading to the arrest of multiple suspects, including a cargo agent and a travel agency CEO.
At the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, NDLEA officers also stopped a 35-year-old Lesotho national, Lemena Mark, from smuggling 103.59 grams of methamphetamine disguised in a herbal tea pack on an Ethiopian Airlines flight to the Philippines.
Elsewhere in Kwara State, 21,950 Tramadol capsules (250mg) were discovered hidden inside a 100-litre water heater after the arrest of Umar Abubakar, 40, in Bode Saadu, Moro Local Government Area.
The NDLEA says it remains steadfast in its mission to dismantle drug networks and discourage illicit substance abuse nationwide.
