The Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Olohundare Jimoh, has reaffirmed the command’s commitment to intensifying the fight against cultism and illegal land dealings across the state.
Jimoh gave the assurance during a familiarisation visit to the Area J Police Command, Elemoro, in the Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos on Friday.
He emphasised the importance of community collaboration in sustaining peace and enhancing security, commending traditional rulers, stakeholders, and residents for their continuous support.
“Our progress in crime prevention has been remarkable, largely due to the cooperation of community members. We encourage our officers to remain steadfast in upholding peace,” he said.
Addressing concerns about land grabbing, the commissioner warned that the police were actively monitoring illegal land activities and would ensure that offenders face prosecution.
“Any unlawful act in land acquisition or construction site security is a criminal offence. Those involved are being arrested and prosecuted,” he stated.
Jimoh also pledged to intensify efforts against cultism, warning that anyone involved in secret cult activities would face the full weight of the law.
He noted that the command remained committed to safeguarding communities, particularly students and youths who are often targeted by cult groups.
The commissioner urged community leaders, parents, and residents to promptly report cult-related activities and cooperate with law enforcement agencies.
“We will not tolerate cultism in any form and are determined to bring offenders to justice. Community partnership remains key to achieving lasting peace in Lagos,” Jimoh added.
