Veteran Nollywood actress Peju Ogunmola has made an emotional return to acting, months after the tragic loss of her only son, Ayomikun Omobolanle.

Ogunmola, wife of popular comic actor Sunday Omobolanle (Papi Luwe), announced her comeback in an Instagram post, expressing deep gratitude to her fans and colleagues for their unwavering love and support during her darkest moments.

The actress lost her son in September 2025 in Ibadan after what the family described as a brief illness. The death of Ayomikun sent shockwaves across the Nollywood community.

In a statement released by the family’s spokesperson, Yemi Amodu, they dismissed online rumours suggesting Ayomikun died in a bathroom accident.

> “Ayomikun was not involved in any accident. He passed away peacefully after a short illness despite all medical efforts,” Amodu clarified.

After weeks of mourning, Ogunmola shared a heartfelt video on Saturday, signaling her readiness to return to work.

> “A new month, a new dawn. The past months have been heavy, but your prayers and love gave me strength. Today, I rise again, grateful and ready to embrace my passion. The screens have missed me, and I’m back doing what I love most,” she wrote.

Following Ayomikun’s passing, several Nollywood stars, including Femi Adebayo, Biola Adebayo, Ibrahim Yekini (Itele D Icon), Bukola Adeeyo, and Faithia Williams, offered their condolences.
Femi Adebayo described the loss as “a sorrow no mother should ever endure,” praying for God’s comfort and eternal rest for the deceased.

Other notable figures such as Dele Odule, Ronke Odusanya, Bimbo Oshin, Fausat Balogun, Olaiya Igwe, Ebun Oloyede, and Fali Werepe also visited the family’s Ibadan home to console them.

Ogunmola, daughter of late theatre legend Kola Ogunmola, said the overwhelming support from her colleagues and fans helped her find strength again.
Now, with renewed purpose and gratitude, the seasoned actress says she is ready to return to the craft that has defined her life and legacy.
