The organisers of the 2025 Almond Insurance Industry Awards have said that the annual event is not just about celebration but a strategic effort to reshape public perception of insurance in Nigeria.

Speaking ahead of the event, the Chief Executive Officer of Almond Productions Limited, Ms. Faith Ughwode, noted that this year’s edition, themed “#Recharged Edition,” aims to recognise changemakers and innovators across the insurance sector.

According to her, “The annual awards are designed to change insurance narratives in Nigeria through pop culture, especially since the country’s youthful population should be the core target for insurance companies.”

Ughwode acknowledged that mistrust has long plagued the Nigerian insurance industry, but platforms like the Almond Awards are helping to bridge the gap. “For years, the industry has struggled with issues of suspicion from the public. However, events like this, which bring celebrities and industry players together in a fun atmosphere, are helping to rebuild trust,” she explained.

This year’s ceremony, scheduled to hold in Lagos later this month, will honour individuals and organisations in nine categories, including Insurance CEO of the Year, General Insurance Company of the Year, Life Insurance Company of the Year, Insurance Broking Company of the Year, Insurance Woman of the Year, Insurance Broker of the Year, Takaful Company of the Year, Microinsurance Company of the Year, and Most Valuable Insurance Customer of the Year.

The event will also feature top entertainment acts such as comedians Creative Toby, MC Taichi, and MC Obinna, with music performances headlined by Slimcase.

Distinguished personalities expected as guest presenters include former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi; President of WimAfrica, Mrs. Rollence McCoy; and Chairman of Emalsson Ent. Ltd, Emmanuel Evue.

Ughwode assured attendees of an exciting experience, adding that the 2025 edition promises to be the most engaging and impactful yet.
