The Oyo/Osun Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has announced that it generated ₦77.88 billion in revenue between January and October 2025.
Comptroller Gambo Aliyu, the Area Controller, disclosed this on Wednesday during the command’s maiden press briefing held at its headquarters in Ibadan, Oyo State.
Aliyu noted that the 10-month revenue marked a 17.5 percent increase compared to the ₦64.27 billion recorded during the same period in 2024. He attributed the growth to the dedication and efficiency of officers despite prevailing economic challenges, adding that the command remained focused on exceeding its monthly revenue targets.
The comptroller further revealed that from June 4 to October 31, 2025, the command intercepted various prohibited items valued at ₦818.79 million in Duty Paid Value (DPV).
Among the seizures were 3,671 bags of 50kg foreign parboiled rice (₦380 million DPV); 10,075 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (₦11.13 million DPV); 73 used compressors (₦5.67 million DPV); 1,054 used tyres (₦109.23 million DPV); 166 bales and 19 sacks of used clothes (₦143.79 million DPV); and nine sacks of used shoes (₦8.16 million DPV).
Other seized items included 25 sacks of used bags (₦22.67 million DPV), 79 wraps of cannabis sativa (₦2.69 million DPV), various unregistered pharmaceuticals (₦1.99 million DPV), and four used vehicles — a Toyota Hilux, a Mercedes Benz GLE, and two Toyota Camry cars — collectively worth ₦133.42 million in DPV.
Aliyu said that suspects arrested in connection with the seizures have been charged to the Federal High Court in line with the provisions of the Nigeria Customs Service Act 2023.
He commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for supporting the command’s operations, and also appreciated the Comptroller-General of Customs, Dr. Bashir Adeniyi, and his management team for their guidance.
The comptroller lauded the officers and men of the command for their discipline and commitment, while acknowledging the cooperation of traditional institutions, sister security agencies, the business community, and the media.
Aliyu reaffirmed the command’s resolve to uphold professionalism and integrity in service delivery, safeguard the national economy, and curb smuggling.
> “We will not relent in our efforts to generate maximum revenue and protect society from the menace of smuggling.
The command remains committed to maintaining open communication channels to ensure smooth trade facilitation and compliance with Customs regulations,” he said.
