Seventeen schools, including 11 primary and seven post-primary institutions across 11 communities, have benefited from intervention programs by the KEFFESO Host Communities Development Trust (KHCDT).
The disclosure was made on Tuesday during KHCDT’s first Annual General Meeting, which was themed “Advancing Accountability and Sustainable Growth.” The Trust operates in host communities of the First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company (KEFFESO).
Speaking at the event, Group CEO Bashir Ojulari, represented by Chief Upstream Officer Mina Loveday, described KHCDT as a platform that promotes community-led, participatory, and sustainable development. He urged members to work together with unity and a shared sense of responsibility to ensure all communities thrive.
Managing Director of First Exploration and Petroleum Development Company, Ademola Adeyemi-Bero, represented by Emmanuel Eteli, praised KHCDT for its impactful programs and collaboration with the company. He highlighted the Trust as a model of partnership built on trust, transparency, and shared goals, commending its initiatives in education, healthcare, and community infrastructure.
KHCDT Board Chairman King Moses Theophilus noted that since its inauguration in September 2023, the Trust has moved from concept to full operation. Its programs have strengthened educational outcomes and improved healthcare services across the 11 communities.
Looking ahead, KHCDT plans to focus on upgrading road networks, health facilities, and educational infrastructure in all its communities. The Trust reported a total income of ₦15.64 billion, expenditure of ₦375.5 million, and a surplus of ₦15.26 billion for the period from November 2023 to October 2024.
