More than 1,300 residents of Ethiope East Local Government Area in Delta State have received free medical care through an initiative led by Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, the House of Representatives member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency.

The outreach, part of the 2025 Physician Week Medical Outreach, was organized by the Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) in collaboration with Starlite Hopes Initiative (SHI), a healthcare and humanitarian programme founded by Ibori-Suenu. The programme impacted communities in Eku, Abraka, and Isiokolo, providing hundreds of residents with much-needed medical services in line with her commitment to bring accessible healthcare closer to her constituents.

At the launch of the programme on Monday, Ibori-Suenu explained that the initiative was specifically designed to deliver essential healthcare services to the people of Ethiope East LGA. She said, “This outreach, carried out with the support of the NMA, brings healthcare directly to the doorsteps of my constituents, improving their overall wellbeing and quality of life.”

The medical services were provided at Government Hospital Abraka, Eku Baptist Government Hospital, and General Hospital Isiokolo, and included minor surgeries such as herniorrhaphy and appendectomy, general medical consultations, and dental care including scaling, polishing, and extractions.

Dr. Henry Ofa, Director of Media for the Ibori-Suenu Grassroots Network, reported that across the three hospitals, 34 surgeries were successfully performed, 343 eye cases and 173 dental cases were treated, and a total of 1,343 medical cases were attended to.

Breakdown of services:

Eku: 9 surgeries, 53 dental cases, 330 general medical cases
