Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Yahaya, on Friday presented 16 new official vehicles to senior judicial officers, underscoring his administration’s commitment to improving the state’s justice delivery system.
The vehicles were allocated to the Chief Judge, High Court judges, the Grand Khadi, and Khadis of the Sharia Court of Appeal. Governor Yahaya was represented at the ceremony by his deputy, Dr. Manassah Jatau.
In his remarks, Yahaya stated that the donation was part of the government’s ongoing efforts to strengthen judicial operations. “This administration places high priority on a functional justice system. Providing these vehicles ensures judicial officers have the tools they need to deliver justice effectively,” he said.
He urged recipients to use the vehicles responsibly and highlighted the government’s expectation of improved service delivery. “We are committed to supporting the judiciary, but we also expect enhanced productivity and faster dispensation of justice,” he added.
Gombe State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Zubairu Umar, commended Yahaya for fulfilling his promises to judicial workers. Meanwhile, the Commissioner for Finance and Economic Development, Magaji Gambo, revealed that the vehicles were procured at a cost of over ₦2 billion, describing the intervention as both necessary and long overdue. “The judiciary last received new vehicles a decade ago,” he noted. “This investment strengthens judicial autonomy and equips officers to serve more efficiently.”
On behalf of the judiciary, Chief Registrars Bello Sherif (High Court) and Ibrahim Jibrin (Sharia Court of Appeal), along with the Chairman of the Nigerian Bar Association, Gombe Chapter, Alhassan Mu’azu, expressed gratitude for the generous gesture.
