White Tigers Retain Title at 2025 Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament

Lagos Island-based White Tigers have successfully defended their crown at the 2025 Spires 5-Aside Naija Street Soccer Tournament in Lagos. The team, coached by Emmanuel Olom, defeated Papa SA Football Club 4-0 in Sunday’s final at the Stables Sports Center in Surulere.

The champions took home N5 million, while runner-up Papa SA received N3 million. Greater Tomorrow FC secured third place after a 3-1 victory over Chekas United, earning a consolation prize of N1 million.

Individually, Ojo Rhaman emerged as both the tournament’s top scorer with 14 goals and the Most Valuable Player, winning a combined N500,000. Coach Emmanuel Olom was named Coach of the Tournament and received N250,000, while Papa SA goalkeeper Sadiq Ridwan earned the Golden Glove award and N250,000 in prize money.

Dr. Bankole Allibay, initiator of the tournament, pledged continued growth and innovation for future editions, highlighting the event’s “Sports Meet Tech” initiative that taught players modern skills including artificial intelligence, coding, and graphic design. This year’s competition featured 40 teams in divisional qualifiers, with 16 advancing to the state championship.
