PALMPAY Nigeria on Tuesday organised a 7-kilometre sensitisation walk through major streets of Kano to educate residents on online fraud and how to safeguard their financial accounts and businesses.
Speaking at the Civic Centre after the campaign, PalmPay Nigeria Managing Director Chika Nwosu said the initiative is part of the company’s nationwide anti-fraud campaign aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s digital financial ecosystem.
“Our goal is to eliminate fraud and ensure no PalmPay user becomes a victim,” Nwosu said, stressing the company’s commitment to a safer digital banking environment. He advised users to be cautious when interacting with digital links and unsolicited messages, noting that many scams originate from fake links on social media. “Verify any link before clicking. If you don’t trust it, don’t open it,” he warned.
Nwosu also urged customers not to share sensitive banking information such as PINs or OTPs, even with individuals claiming to represent PalmPay. He added that although fraud incidents on the platform have declined, the company remains determined to reduce such activities to zero.
Highlighting PalmPay’s nationwide reach, Nwosu noted that millions of debit cards are in circulation for use at ATMs, web platforms, and partner agent points, enabling secure and convenient payments. He encouraged residents to report any suspicious activity through official channels.
During the sensitisation walk, PalmPay staff carried placards with messages like “Together We Can Stop Fraud,” “Fraud Prevention Starts With You,” and “Don’t Share Your PIN With Anyone.” The walk passed through key areas of Kano, including Murtala Muhammad Way, Bata Roundabout, Ibo Road, Abuja Road, Yankura Market, and Kano Guest Inn.
