Health data officers in Maiduguri have completed a specialised technology training programme aimed at improving how medical services are tracked and delivered across the state. The initiative focused on geospatial tools that allow professionals to map, analyse, and interpret health trends for better policy and operational decisions.

The programme was organised by Fact Foundation in partnership with University of Maiduguri, targeting members of the Borno State Primary Health Care Development Board data unit. Participants underwent hands-on sessions covering digital mapping, spatial analysis, and data visualization for healthcare projects.

Organisers said the training is designed to help health managers identify service gaps, monitor disease patterns, and allocate resources more efficiently across communities. Sixteen officers completed the course and received certification after meeting performance requirements.

Stakeholders noted that expanding geospatial expertise within the health sector will support evidence-based planning and faster response to public health needs throughout Borno State. Calls were also made for advanced follow-up sessions to further strengthen technical capacity.
