Nigeria put on a commanding performance in the shooting events at the inaugural West Africa Para Games in Abeokuta, securing all available gold medals in both pistol and rifle competitions. The games, hosted from November 28 to December 3, 2025, featured over 700 para‑athletes from across the region.

In the pistol division, Aliyu Abubakar captured the men’s SH1 pistol gold, while Lawal Hallmat triumphed in the women’s SH1 pistol category. The mixed SH1 pistol event also went to Nigeria, with Adedimeji Adeniji and Bala Mary topping the field.

The rifle contests were just as successful for the Nigerian team. Benjamin Isaac secured the men’s SH1 rifle title, while Ileyemi Olayinka claimed the women’s equivalent. In the mixed SH1 rifle event, the pairing of Rebecca Ayuba and Abel Enoch sealed a gold medal, completing the clean sweep in shooting for Nigeria.

Although other nations also earned medals — including a gold for Ghana in the SH2 open pistol class — none came close to matching Nigeria’s dominance. With this stellar showing, Nigeria closed out the shooting events with six golds, reinforcing its leading position in the Para‑sport discipline across West Africa.
