The meeting focused on critical milestones, infrastructural readiness, and collaborative strategies as Nigeria positions itself to host the premier continental youth sporting event.

LOC Chairman Lanre Abari was welcomed by NSC Chairman Shehu Dikko and Director General Bukola Olopade, who reiterated the Commission’s commitment to ensuring a world-class Games.

“The African School Games are key to the growth of youth sports across Africa, and Nigeria is prepared to take a leading role,” Olopade stated. He emphasized that the NSC would provide full support to the LOC to guarantee that Abuja 2027 sets new standards in excellence, participation, and continental unity.

Abari expressed confidence in Nigeria’s ability to host a memorable edition of the Games. “Abuja 2027 will be a moment of national pride, highlighting our hospitality, unity, and the immense talent of our young athletes,” he said. “With the official inauguration complete, we are ready to hit the ground running and deliver Games that every Nigerian and African child can celebrate.”

A seasoned executive with a distinguished career in both private and public sectors, Abari is recognized for improving organisational efficiency through strategic planning and operational excellence.
