Anambra Police Declare Zero Tolerance for Impersonators

The Anambra State Police Command has issued a strong warning to individuals impersonating security personnel across the state, stating that anyone caught engaging in such acts will be immediately arrested and prosecuted. The directive follows growing concerns that criminals are using police or security-agency uniforms to commit offences, intimidate residents, and evade law-enforcement authorities.

The Commissioner of Police emphasized that uniforms, badges, and other equipment belonging to security agencies are government property and must not be worn, sold, or used by unauthorized persons. Violators, he said, will face the full weight of the law.

To curb the trend, the command has directed all police divisions, tactical squads, and patrol teams to intensify checks and verify the identities of personnel on duty during operations. Increased visibility policing has also been ordered across the state.

Residents were urged to remain vigilant and promptly report any suspicious individuals posing as security officers to the police to help maintain safety and public confidence.
