Several candidates selected for the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) scholarship programme say they have been inexplicably dropped — even after completing all required documentation and clearing screening.
According to multiple affected individuals, the entire application process — from application, exam, to interview — was concluded properly. They were initially sent congratulatory messages confirming their selection.
However, shortly afterwards the congratulatory message was retracted, with the commission indicating that a new message containing a “unique code” would be sent instead.
When the new code arrived, the recipients were asked to attend the scholarship award ceremony. But at the venue, many discovered that, although their names appeared on the central master list, they were missing from their state lists — which were needed for official documentation.
Some of those initially cleared were eventually told they had made it, and even signed acceptance forms. They were told to submit those forms when the official award letters were issued. Yet, as of now, many still have not received any formal award letters — leaving them stranded, especially those who depend solely on the scholarship for school fees.
Those affected are calling on NDDC to explain the omissions and are urging relevant authorities to intervene.
