Senator Mukhail Adetokunbo Abiru of Lagos East has officially launched 48 cooperative societies in his constituency, distributing a total take-off grant of N480 million.
As part of the empowerment initiative, Abiru also provided starter kits and support items to about 2,000 constituents, along with food packs to over 12,000 households across the 16 local councils in Lagos East.
Speaking at the launch, Abiru, who chairs the Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance, and other Financial Institutions, emphasized that the program is designed to provide accessible capital to market women, artisans, farmers, youth organizations, and traders, enabling them to grow sustainable businesses.
He added that true empowerment goes beyond handouts, focusing on unlocking potential, building wealth, and contributing to national development. Each cooperative received N10 million, alongside distributed materials and food support, reflecting his commitment to delivering tangible benefits to citizens in Lagos East.
