Super Eagles and Galatasaray striker Victor Osimhen has been named Sportsman of the Year at the 2025 GQ Türkiye Men of the Year Awards held in Istanbul on Wednesday.
The 26‑year‑old earned the honour following an exceptional 2024–25 campaign in Turkey, during which he scored 37 goals and provided seven assists in 41 appearances, playing a pivotal role in Galatasaray’s Süper Lig title and Turkish Cup victories. His impressive form convinced the club to trigger a record €75 million permanent transfer from Napoli.
Osimhen has continued his strong performances this season, with 11 goals in 14 matches across all competitions for the Istanbul giants. After receiving the award, he thanked the organisers, his club, teammates and fans, and reiterated his commitment to giving his best on the pitch.
He becomes the first Nigerian to win this accolade at the Turkish edition of Gentlemen Quarterly, an event that celebrates outstanding achievements across sports and culture.
