The Abia State Government has announced that Governor Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, OFR, will officially unveil the state’s 25‑Year Development Plan on Tuesday, 16 December 2025 at 2 p.m. at the International Conference Centre in Umuahia. The event marks a milestone for the administration, presenting a bold, long‑term blueprint aimed at steering the state toward socio‑economic progress well into the mid‑21st century.
Invitations have been extended to key development partners—including UNDP, PIND, PACE, PwC, AGEAC—as well as local government chairmen, traditional rulers, student groups, persons with disabilities, and other stakeholders. Their participation underscores the government’s commitment to an inclusive planning process that reflects the voices of all Abians.
The plan is built around six strategic pillars: people and resources, growth and stability, sustainable economy, social infrastructure and inclusion, governance and reform, and cross‑sector linkages. Together, these pillars aim to unlock local potential, boost productivity, and attract both domestic and foreign investment, laying the groundwork for a dynamic, climate‑resilient economy.
A central focus of the blueprint is modern, climate‑smart infrastructure—clean energy, digital connectivity, and sustainable urban planning—supported by strong institutional frameworks that promote transparency, accountability, and citizen participation. If implemented faithfully, the roadmap promises to elevate Abia’s competitiveness and place it at the forefront of Nigeria’s economic landscape.
The Abia State Government has reaffirmed its dedication to seeing the plan through, pledging diligent execution and continuous engagement with all partners and the public. The expectation is that this visionary initiative will transform Abia into a model of sustainable growth and prosperity for the entire country.
