Former Arsenal and France striker Thierry Henry is set to receive the Lifetime Achievement award at the 2025 BBC Sports Personality of the Year ceremony. The 48‑year‑old football icon will be honoured during the live broadcast on BBC One and BBC iPlayer this Thursday evening.
Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in Premier League history, Henry became Arsenal’s all‑time leading goalscorer, netting 228 goals in 377 appearances and helping the club secure two Premier League titles and three FA Cups — including the famous unbeaten “Invincibles” season of 2003‑04.
Henry also enjoyed a decorated international career with France, winning the 1998 FIFA World Cup and Euro 2000, and earned individual accolades such as four Premier League Golden Boots.
Reflecting on the recognition, Henry said football had given him everything and that being honoured for his career’s impact on fans and teammates was something he would always cherish.
The Lifetime Achievement award celebrates his lasting influence on the sport, both on and off the pitch.
