Normal vehicular movement has resumed along the Aba Road–FMC–Umudike Junction in Umuahia, Abia State, after the Abia State Government concluded repair works on the busy stretch.

The maintenance, carried out on Thursday, December 18, temporarily led to severe traffic congestion, with many commuters and motorists stuck for hours. By Friday morning, however, traffic had eased as the road reopened fully to users.

Several motorists commended Governor Alex Otti for prioritising road infrastructure, noting that the improvements have enhanced the outlook of the state capital, especially as the festive season approaches. One road user, Uche, described the ongoing projects as a source of pride for residents.

Despite the commendations, some motorists advised that future maintenance works should be scheduled for nighttime to reduce disruptions during peak hours.
