Umuahia, 19 December 2025 – The Chief of Staff to the Governor of Abia State, Pastor Caleb Ajagba, has praised civil servants in Government House and across the state for their discipline, dedication, and commitment to the reform agenda of Governor Alex Otti’s administration.

Pastor Ajagba made the commendation on Friday during the 2025 end-of-year get-together organized by the Government House Staff Welfare Association at Government House, Umuahia. He described the workers’ support as critical to the success of the “New Abia” vision championed by Governor Otti.

Acknowledging that Governor Otti inherited a system in need of extensive reforms, Pastor Ajagba noted that transitioning to a new governance paradigm was initially challenging but essential for the state’s development. He expressed satisfaction that Abia workers are embracing the reforms and discipline that now define Government House operations, adding that the initial tension and pressure were indicators that meaningful transformation was underway.

“Change is never comfortable, but it is necessary if you must move from where you are to where you need to be,” Pastor Ajagba said.

He also highlighted the visible impact of the Otti administration across the state, citing improved infrastructure, rehabilitated roads, renovated schools and health centers, and a renewed sense of pride among Abians at home and abroad. The Chief of Staff further commended the regular payment of workers’ salaries, noting that civil servants now receive alerts consistently between the 27th and 28th of each month, a development that has restored confidence and enabled effective personal planning.

Pastor Ajagba assured workers that the Governor remains committed to rewarding diligence and passion, promising that dedicated employees would be handsomely recognized.

The Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Rowland Dannis, representing Isialangwa South State Constituency in the Abia State House of Assembly and represented at the event by Mr. Okechi Ubani, described the party as a special moment for Government House staff. He encouraged attendees to reflect on God’s mercies and faithfulness throughout the year and congratulated them on reaching the end of 2025.

Mrs. Onyedikachi Ogwo, Director-in-Charge, also thanked God for His faithfulness and urged staff to exercise caution during the Yuletide season, praying for their protection and grace to witness the New Year.

Delivering a sermon titled “Celebrating God’s Faithfulness,” Pastor Sam Ekekwe of the Administration Department emphasized the importance of appreciating God’s works in life and assured attendees of His continuous protection beyond the festive season.

Other dignitaries present included Apostle Kenneth Wiper, Special Adviser on Religious Matters; Mrs. Magdalene Ugoanusi, Senior Special Adviser on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs; and other top government functionaries.

The celebration featured special songs by the Government House choir, drama presentations, news recaps, and cultural dances performed by staff members.
