French Ligue 1 club RC Strasbourg Alsace have appointed Gary O’Neil as their new head coach, following the departure of Liam Rosenior to take charge at Chelsea.

The 42‑year‑old English manager, previously in charge at Bournemouth and Wolverhampton Wanderers, had been without a managerial role since his exit from Wolves in December 2024. He is set to lead his first training session on Thursday and will take charge of Strasbourg’s upcoming French Cup tie against Avranches.

O’Neil expressed his excitement at joining the Alsace club, praising its passionate supporters and ambitious squad. Strasbourg are currently seventh in the Ligue 1 standings and have qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Conference League.

Rosenior, who enjoyed an impactful spell at Strasbourg, left for Chelsea on a long‑term contract after the departure of Enzo Maresca from the Premier League club.
