Lagos is set to host its first-ever 170-kilometre cycling race, the Lagos Gran Fondo “EKO 170”, on January 11, 2026, in a move aimed at promoting sports tourism and healthy living in the city.
Organisers have partnered with Mikano International Limited and Changan International, who will serve as the main infrastructure and operational partners for the event. The companies will provide key support including race vehicles, medical services, energy supply, and rider amenities, ensuring a smooth and safe competition.
The race, endorsed by the Lagos State Government, is expected to draw both professional cyclists and enthusiasts, putting Lagos on the map as a destination for international cycling events. Organisers say the partnership goes beyond sponsorship, providing the infrastructure and resources needed to deliver a world-class sporting experience.
Mikano has also announced the creation of a “Clean Energy Hub” at the festival village, highlighting sustainable energy solutions and showcasing the company’s commitment to innovation and community development.
Event organisers believe that with Mikano and Changan’s support, the Lagos Gran Fondo will not only boost the city’s profile in global cycling circles but also encourage healthy lifestyles, community participation, and youth engagement across Lagos.
