Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has played down concerns over the absence of captain Wilfred Ndidi as Nigeria prepare to face host nation Morocco in the Africa Cup of Nations 2025 semi‑final. Ndidi will miss the crucial last‑four clash after serving a suspension for accumulating yellow cards during the tournament, leaving a gap in Nigeria’s midfield.

Chelle admitted he was disappointed that the influential midfielder would not feature, but stressed that the team’s strength lies in its collective depth. He said there are other quality players in the squad ready to step up and fill the void left by Ndidi’s absence.

The coach highlighted that Nigeria still boasts strong attacking talent and tactical options, and remains confident his side can rise to the challenge despite the setback. Midfield alternatives such as Raphael Onyedika or Frank Onyeka could be deployed to shore up the centre of the park.

As Nigeria chase a spot in the AFCON final, Chelle emphasised his belief in the squad’s unity and ability to adapt, saying every player must be prepared when called upon. His remarks reflect a focus on team resilience and collective effort as the Super Eagles aim to overcome Morocco and continue their continental campaign.
