AS Roma’s bid for Coppa Italia glory came to an end after a dramatic 3–2 defeat at home to Torino in the round of 16. Despite an exciting performance and a remarkable debut goal from 16‑year‑old Antonio Arena, Roma were unable to hold on and exited the tournament.
Torino drew first blood midway through the first half through Che Adams, and although Roma equalised early in the second period, Adams struck again to restore his side’s lead. Arena then brought the hosts level late in the game with a stunning header on his first senior touch. However, Roma’s celebrations were short‑lived as Emirhan Ilkhan grabbed a 90th‑minute winner to send Torino through to the quarter‑finals.
The defeat compounds a frustrating cup campaign for Roma, who will now turn their attention back to Serie A action as they regroup following their early Italian Cup exit.
