Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Benjamin Okezie Kalu, has commissioned a rehabilitated power line project that has restored electricity to Bende Federal Constituency in Abia State after 23 years without public power supply.

The project, which also reconnects Uzuakoli and Ozuitem to the national grid, is expected to stimulate economic activities by reviving small-scale businesses, cottage industries and factories across the area.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony in Bende on Monday, Kalu, who represents the constituency, said the affected towns and communities had depended on solar power and generators since 2002 to meet their electricity needs. He expressed satisfaction that the completion of the project would significantly improve living standards and boost commercial activities in the region.
