Abia State Governor Dr. Alex Otti has announced a partnership with the Nigerian Council of Registered Insurance Brokers (NCRIB) to increase public understanding of insurance and improve uptake across the state. The collaboration was revealed during a visit by the NCRIB President, Mrs. Ekeoma Ezeibe, and her delegation to the governor in Umuahia.

Governor Otti said his administration has formed a working committee to support efforts with NCRIB to roll out practical and sustainable insurance awareness programmes, with Abia State proposed as a pilot location for the initiative. He also stressed the importance of involving young professionals in the collaboration.

Mrs. Ezeibe briefed the governor on the newly enacted Nigerian Insurance Industry Reform Act 2025 and explained that the pilot project in Abia aims to showcase the benefits of insurance in areas such as job creation, investment protection, healthcare access, and economic stability.

The governor also expressed support for the upcoming 2026 NCRIB Chief Executive Officers’ Retreat scheduled to take place in Abia State, part of efforts to strengthen insurance advocacy and foster deeper industry engagement.
