Former Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has declared his support for a second term for Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, describing his performance as commendable and impactful.
Dr. Ogah made the statement on Tuesday while speaking with journalists after a closed-door meeting with Governor Otti at his country home in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area.
According to him, the visit was primarily to extend New Year greetings to the governor, noting that Abians are pleased with the progress recorded under his administration.
“I believe he deserves a second term. I have said this repeatedly, and it is not debatable,” Dr. Ogah said. “God has used him to wipe away the tears of Abia people. Within just a few years in office, the positive results of his efforts are already visible.”
He added that the people of Abia State are grateful and happy with the governor’s leadership, stressing that Governor Otti should be given the opportunity to complete his plans for the state.
“He should be allowed to govern for a second term so he can fully deliver on his vision for Abia. I believe everyone should support him to achieve this,” he stated.
Commenting on recent political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections, Dr. Ogah, a former governorship candidate in the state, described declarations of interest and political debates as a normal part of the democratic process.
“In politics, people present what they have to offer. That is what opposition is about,” he explained. “However, at the end of the day, it is God and the people of Abia who will decide who governs them.”
When asked about his own political ambitions ahead of 2027, Dr. Ogah categorically stated that he has no personal ambition, emphasizing that his focus is on supporting the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alex Otti.
“My ambition is to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term and to support Governor Alex Otti for re-election. That is my only ambition,” he said.
