Former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, has expressed strong backing for the continuation of Governor Alex Otti’s administration in Abia State, stating that the governor has earned another term in office through his performance.
Ogah shared his position on Tuesday after a private visit to Governor Otti at his residence in Nvosi, Isialangwa South Local Government Area. He explained that the meeting was intended as a New Year courtesy call, but it also gave him the opportunity to acknowledge the governor’s strides in office.
He noted that many residents of Abia State are satisfied with the direction of governance under Otti, pointing to visible improvements and what he described as purposeful leadership that is producing real change across the state.
The former minister emphasized that collective support would enable the governor to consolidate on ongoing developments through a second tenure.
Addressing the evolving political climate ahead of the 2027 general elections, Ogah remarked that public endorsements and statements of intent are part of the normal democratic process. He dismissed speculation about his own political plans, stating that he is not pursuing any personal ambition.
Instead, he reaffirmed his commitment to the re election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu while also standing firmly behind Governor Otti’s bid for another term.
Widely regarded as a key stakeholder in Abia politics, Dr Ogah’s voice carries considerable weight across party lines, with many observers noting his longstanding influence, grassroots connections, and consistent role in shaping political conversations and development focused advocacy within the state.
