Edo State Governor Monday Okpebholo has initiated a slight reorganisation of his cabinet to boost government performance and streamline operations, with several principal appointments taking effect on January 30, 2026.
In the changes announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Vincent Osas Uwadiae was moved from his role as Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources to lead the Ministry of Lands and Housing.
The reshuffle also saw Yakubu Oshiorenua Musa, who previously served as Commissioner for Lands and Housing, take over as the Governor’s new Chief of Staff.
Meanwhile, Gani Audu, Okpebholo’s outgoing Chief of Staff, has been nominated as the new Commissioner for Oil and Gas Resources. His confirmation by the Edo State House of Assembly is pending, in accordance with constitutional requirements.
Governor Okpebholo said the modest cabinet realignment is intended to improve coordination among ministries, accelerate implementation of state policies and programs, and ensure that experienced hands are placed in positions where they can make the greatest impact.
These adjustments reflect the administration’s ongoing efforts to refine its leadership team as part of broader governance objectives in Edo State.
