The Nigerian Army has raised concerns over a widely circulated video popularly tagged “Gentle De Yah00,” cautioning that the footage may not be authentic and could have been generated or altered using artificial intelligence tools.
In a statement issued by Army Headquarters, officials said preliminary checks suggest the video does not align with verified operational records or known personnel, prompting suspicions that it may have been digitally manipulated to mislead the public. The Army stressed that no conclusion should be drawn from the clip until a full forensic review is completed.
Military authorities warned that the increasing use of AI-generated content poses a serious threat to public trust and national security, as such materials can easily be used to spread false narratives, damage reputations, or incite unnecessary panic.
The Army urged Nigerians to exercise caution when sharing unverified videos on social media and to rely on official channels for accurate information. It also assured the public that investigations are ongoing and that appropriate action will be taken against individuals found responsible for creating or circulating deceptive content.
Reaffirming its commitment to professionalism and transparency, the Nigerian Army called on citizens to support efforts to combat misinformation, noting that collaboration between security agencies and the public is essential in the digital age.
