Abuja — Comrade Timi Frank, former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has written to The U.S. President Donald Trump, expressing concerns over recent changes to Nigeria’s Electoral Act and their potential impact on the nation’s democracy.
In his letter, Frank warned that the amendments could undermine transparency and fairness ahead of the 2027 general elections. He described the changes as a threat to Nigeria’s stability and called on international partners to pay close attention.
Frank alleged that the revisions risk disenfranchising voters and weakening public confidence in the electoral process, potentially leading to unrest and widespread dissatisfaction among citizens.
He urged Trump and other global leaders to support measures that safeguard electoral integrity and hold accountable anyone attempting to compromise credible elections. Political observers note that such warnings could intensify debates around electoral reforms as Nigeria approaches the 2027 polls.
