A group of 117 individuals previously involved in armed rebellion in Borno State have successfully completed a federal government reintegration programme aimed at helping them return to civilian life.
The completion of the Disarmament, Rehabilitation and Reintegration (DRR) training under the Operation Safe Corridor initiative was announced on Thursday during a high‑level stakeholders meeting convened by the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.
According to the Director of Defence Information, Maj. Gen. Samaila Uba, the graduates went through the DRR process at the Mallam Sidi Camp in Borno, and officials finalised arrangements to hand them over to national and state authorities for their next steps toward community reintegration.
Brig. Gen. Y. Ali, the Operation Safe Corridor coordinator, described the milestone as evidence of improved cooperation between federal and state governments in supporting rehabilitated participants.
The programme, which blends psychological support, vocational training, monitoring, and community acceptance efforts, continues to expand into other regions of the country.
