Security operatives in Enugu State have intensified their clampdown on criminal activity, arresting 15 individuals during a coordinated raid on suspected hideouts.

The operation, carried out by the state police command’s tactical unit, targeted identified black spots in Ozalla, within Nkanu West Local Government Area. Acting on intelligence reports, officers stormed the area in the early hours, rounding up nine men and six women believed to be linked to illicit activities.

During the sweep, security personnel recovered a locally made pistol loaded with ammunition, along with substances suspected to be hard drugs. Authorities said the discoveries highlight ongoing efforts by criminal elements to operate within the community.

Police spokesperson, Daniel Ndukwe, stated that the suspects are currently being screened to determine their level of involvement. He added that those found not culpable would be released, while others would be prosecuted.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, Mamman Bitrus Giwa, has directed officers to sustain pressure on criminal networks, stressing a zero-tolerance stance on cultism, drug trafficking, and related offences. Residents were also urged to provide useful information to support ongoing security efforts.
