The Nigerian Army has announced the arrest of several individuals suspected of supplying drones and other equipment to insurgent groups operating in the North-East region.
Military authorities said the suspects were apprehended during coordinated intelligence-led operations targeting logistics networks believed to be aiding Boko Haram fighters. The crackdown, according to officials, is part of an intensified campaign to disrupt the group’s access to advanced technology used in surveillance and attacks.
In a related development, troops deployed across key locations in the region reportedly engaged insurgents in multiple encounters, leading to the neutralisation of several fighters. The operations also resulted in the recovery of weapons, communication devices, and drone components.
The army noted that the recent successes reflect improved intelligence gathering and collaboration with local communities. It added that efforts are ongoing to track down other members of the supply network and prevent further infiltration of such equipment into the conflict zone.
Residents in affected areas have been urged to remain vigilant and continue providing credible information to security agencies, as the military sustains its offensive against insurgency in the region.
