British-Nigerian heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua is aiming to return to the ring by July following a serious car accident in Nigeria late last year that claimed the lives of two members of his training team.
Joshua, 36, was involved in a collision on a Nigerian highway during the Christmas period. While he survived with injuries and received hospital treatment, two of his close associates tragically lost their lives in the crash.
His promoter, Eddie Hearn, confirmed that previously discussed plans for a March fight and a high-profile bout against Tyson Fury have been postponed. The current focus is on Joshua’s recovery and preparing him for a possible July return.
Although Joshua is not yet ready to resume full training, progress is being made, and several potential fight options around the world are being considered for his comeback. The boxing community continues to watch closely as the former world champion rebuilds both physically and mentally after this difficult experience.
