The National Population Commission (NPC) has urged all stakeholders in Ekiti State to ensure that the 2026 election is conducted peacefully and fairly. The commission warned against any attempts at voter intimidation, violence, or financial inducements, emphasizing that such actions undermine democracy and the credibility of the electoral process.
NPC officials visiting the state stressed the importance of orderly conduct at voter registration and polling centers. They highlighted that the success of the election depends on cooperation among political parties, security agencies, and residents, and encouraged everyone to adhere strictly to the rules.
The commission also called on citizens to be vigilant and report any suspicious or illegal activities, including vote-buying and coercion. They assured that reports would be taken seriously, and that necessary actions would be taken to protect voters and maintain the integrity of the election.
As the election draws closer, the NPC reiterated that compliance with legal and ethical standards is crucial. Authorities warned that anyone found engaging in violence or corrupt practices will face consequences under the law, reaffirming the commitment to a transparent and peaceful electoral process.
