Nigeria’s National Assembly has postponed its scheduled return to plenary, pushing the resumption date further into early March.

Lawmakers in both chambers were initially expected to reconvene on February 24, but officials announced a new date of March 5, giving committees additional time to wrap up ongoing financial reviews.

The adjustment, communicated by Clerk Kamoru Ogunlana, is aimed at allowing legislative panels to complete their scrutiny of budget proposals submitted by various government agencies. These sessions are a key part of the process leading to the passage of the national budget.

With several ministries and agencies still appearing before committees, the leadership opted to delay plenary sittings to avoid interruptions and ensure thorough consideration of spending plans.

Both the Senate and the House of Representatives are now expected to resume full legislative activities on the new date, with proceedings scheduled to begin in the late morning.
