A political event organized by the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Benin City was thrown into chaos when suspected hoodlums stormed the venue, police have confirmed.
Authorities said the attackers caused panic among participants before security personnel intervened, forcing them to retreat. Although no one was killed, some event equipment and property were damaged during the disruption.
In a related incident, gunshots were reported near the residence of a notable political figure, causing property damage but no injuries.
The Edo State Police Command has increased security in the area and launched a full investigation to identify the perpetrators. Officials also urged political groups to coordinate with law enforcement to ensure the safety of future events.
