The Abia State Government (ABSG) has announced plans to host the maiden edition of the Abia Business Roundtable on Thursday, March 5, 2026.
The high-level meeting, scheduled to hold at 10:00 a.m. at the International Conference Centre, Umuahia, is aimed at fostering dialogue with members of the business community across the country and strengthening collaboration between the government and the private sector.
The Commissioner for Information, Prince Okey Kanu, made the disclosure on Friday at Government House, Umuahia, during a joint press conference with the Director General and Chief Executive Officer of the Abia State Public Private Partnership and Investment Promotion (PPP & IP) Office, Mr. Chinedum Chijioke.
Prince Kanu stated that the roundtable, which will be presided over by Governor Alex Otti, will serve as a platform for meaningful engagement between the government and business leaders. He explained that discussions would focus on strategies to promote business growth in Abia and attract new investments into the state.
According to him, the forum will enable the business community to share their needs and expectations, while the government outlines existing policies and initiatives designed to support enterprise development.
Also speaking, Mr. Chijioke described the event as a strategic move to create a structured platform for collaboration between the public and private sectors. He noted that in thriving economies worldwide, the private sector drives growth, while the government provides an enabling environment.
He added that the roundtable would give business operators the opportunity to contribute to policy discussions and help shape reforms that affect the business climate in Abia State.
Mr. Chijioke disclosed that business leaders from different sectors and categories across the country are being invited. Participation, he said, is strictly by registration and invitation. Interested participants can register through a link provided by the PPP & IP Office or by contacting 0808-660-8448 via text or WhatsApp to receive the registration details.
He explained that the PPP & IP Office operates under three key mandates: investment promotion, investment facilitation, and aftercare and advocacy. The forthcoming roundtable, he noted, falls under the aftercare and advocacy component, aimed at strengthening relationships with existing and prospective investors.
The Director General of the Abia State Public Private Partnership Office and Investment Promotions Office, Mr. Uchenna Nnaomah, was also present at the press briefing.
