Otti Gains Strong Backing from Cross-Party Chiefs Ahead of 2027 Elections

A group of influential political figures from both the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the Ukwa East area of Abia State has shifted allegiance to the Labour Party (LP) and publicly thrown their support behind Governor Alex Otti’s bid to seek another term in the 2027 elections.

At a ceremony in the Ohanku community, former APC members including a state assembly representative, a past majority leader, and previous local government officials officially joined LP and pledged their backing for Otti’s leadership.

Governor Otti thanked them for the support and outlined plans to tackle long‑standing issues in the region. He promised electricity supply improvements for the Ndoki area by March 2026 and instructed work to continue on key access roads, including extensions into more remote parts of Ukwa East.

Otti also addressed ongoing border disputes with neighbouring Akwa Ibom State, saying discussions are underway to bring lasting peace.

Those who defected praised Otti for infrastructure projects, healthcare upgrades, and school repairs in their communities, saying the decisions to back him were driven by his performance rather than party loyalty.

Local leaders added urgency to requests for power restoration and further development, while traditional rulers offered prayers and symbolic gifts to the governor during the event.
