In a pointed remark during a recent public appearance, Vice President Kashim Shettima mocked the opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), over its controversial membership portal. Shettima accused the party of promoting fake membership sign-ups and using fraudulent means to gain political traction.

Addressing the issue, Shettima questioned the authenticity of the names listed on the ADC’s platform, implying that it was a desperate move to appear more influential than it actually was. He further accused the party of undermining democratic processes by resorting to dishonest practices.

The ADC, however, swiftly dismissed the allegations, calling them baseless and politically motivated. Party representatives claimed that the portal was merely a tool to better engage with their supporters and denied any wrongdoing.

This latest exchange is part of the ongoing war of words between the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and opposition parties as the political climate intensifies ahead of the next general election.
