Nigeria’s veteran table tennis star Quadri Aruna is preparing for a high‑profile match at the WTT Champions Chongqing 2026 in China, where he will meet one of the sport’s elite players in the men’s round of 32. Aruna, aiming to make a statement after a challenging start to the season, is focused on advancing further than he has in recent tournaments.
The 37‑year‑old will face Félix Lebrun of France, currently ranked among the world’s best, in what promises to be a competitive encounter. This will mark the third time the two players have met, with Aruna holding one previous win.
Aruna has been among the select group of African players contesting top‑level WTT events this season, although he is yet to secure a victory on the tour this year. His performance in Lyon, Doha, and Singapore earlier in the campaign ended without wins, adding pressure going into this match.
A victory over Lebrun would move Aruna into the round of 16 and provide a much‑needed confidence boost as he eyes better results on the international circuit. The WTT Champions Chongqing event gathers elite competitors from around the globe and serves as a key test of form ahead of future rankings and events.
