The Abia State Police Command has completed a nationwide refresher training programme ordered by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) for police personnel across the country.
The command said the training exercise began on March 3, 2026, and was conducted across all Area Commands and Divisions in the state. According to the police, the programme, which was mandatory for officers of all ranks, ended on Thursday, March 12, 2026.
The training covered key operational areas including musketry, tactical handling of firearms, rules of engagement, the use-of-force continuum, professional ethics, and operational fire discipline. It was designed to strengthen officers’ capacity for responsible firearms management, enhance operational effectiveness, and reinforce professionalism in the discharge of their duties.
The Commissioner of Police in Abia State, CP Danladi Isa, urged officers to apply the knowledge and skills gained from the training while performing their responsibilities. He also emphasised the need for discipline, professionalism, and strict adherence to established rules of engagement.
The statement was issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, DSP Maureen Chioma Chinaka, on behalf of the Commissioner of Police on March 13, 2026.
