Social media influencer and philanthropist Mitchell Mukoro, popularly known as King Mitchy, has apologised publicly following weeks of controversy linked to her online clash with social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, also known as VeryDarkMan.

Mitchy issued the apology on Thursday through a video posted on her Instagram page, where she addressed Nigerians and admitted that her actions during the heated social media exchanges were inappropriate.

In the video, she said she had taken time to reflect on the situation and was ready to take responsibility for her conduct.

“Good morning, Nigerians. I am ready to be held accountable for my actions. For some days, I have reflected on my behaviour, and I know that I was wrong. I want to be held accountable,” she said.

She also expressed regret over a distressing live video in which she appeared to drink a substance believed to be hypo during the peak of the controversy.

“For the substance I took on a live video, that was very wrong of me because there are young girls who look up to me, and I know I disappointed a lot of people,” she added.

Mitchy also apologised to individuals whose names were drawn into the dispute, including Seyi Tinubu and the Ooni of Ife.

She apologised to Tinubu, explaining that although she had privately expressed regret earlier, she felt the need to do so publicly.

“My boss, ST, I am so sorry. I know I apologised privately, but I disrespected you publicly, so I want to apologise publicly. I have never taken your support for granted and I never will,” she said.

She also expressed regret for mentioning the Ooni of Ife during the controversy.

“To the Ooni of Ife, I am very sorry for bringing your name into this. I am so sorry, Daddy,” she said.

Addressing VeryDarkMan directly, Mitchy acknowledged his activism and apologised for attacking him.

“To VeryDarkMan, my brother, I see what you are fighting for. You are fighting for Nigeria, and we can make Nigeria a better place. I am sorry for coming at you like that. I now understand you better and I see that you are fighting for a good cause. You need more supporters, not people fighting you,” she said.

The controversy began after Mitchy announced that she renovated a dilapidated school in Delta State within six days, presenting the project as proof that change could be achieved quickly with genuine commitment.

In a social media post, she stated that the project was meant to show how easily problems could be addressed when there was genuine intention.

Her remarks were widely interpreted as criticism of VeryDarkMan, who responded with several videos accusing her of being used politically to improve the image of President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Tagging the President’s son, Seyi Tinubu, he alleged that the renovation project was connected to political interests.

In response, Mitchy warned that any attack on her would mark the beginning of her critic’s downfall.

As the online exchanges intensified, VeryDarkMan later alleged that Mitchy and Seyi Tinubu were threatening his life.

The controversy deepened after some social media users questioned the extent of the school renovation when videos surfaced showing parts of the building still appearing damaged. Mitchy later shared receipts online showing she spent more than N1 million on the project.

Tension escalated further after Mitchy appeared visibly distressed during a live video session that sparked widespread concern among viewers.

Her management later announced that she had died at Prime Care Hospital in Abuja, a claim that quickly spread across social media. However, the hospital denied the report, stating that she had never been admitted to the facility.

The hospital also warned that it would investigate the source of the misinformation and pursue legal action against those responsible.

Mitchy’s management later withdrew the earlier statement and clarified that she was alive and in stable condition.

Meanwhile, Seyi Tinubu had earlier distanced himself from the controversy, stating that his only interaction with Mitchy was in support of her charity work.

He explained that he met her once in a public setting where he provided financial support for her NGO activities, noting that he had similarly supported many young Nigerians and organisations.

Tinubu also denied any private relationship or secret arrangement with the influencer, insisting that claims linking him to the feud were unfounded.

He further accused VeryDarkMan of dragging his name into a dispute he did not initiate, stressing that supporting charitable causes should not be misconstrued as wrongdoing.
