Timi Frank Criticizes Tinubu’s UK Visit as Ill-Timed and Embarrassing

Comrade Timi Frank, a former top communication official of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), has sharply criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s official visit to the United Kingdom, calling it poorly timed and damaging to Nigeria’s image.

In a public statement, Frank argued that the UK should share some responsibility for Nigeria’s current struggles because the state visit took place shortly after deadly attacks in Maiduguri, where many civilians lost their lives. He described the decision to proceed with ceremonial events barely 24 hours after the violence as lacking compassion for ordinary Nigerians.

Frank said that while citizens were grieving, government officials appeared to be attending celebrations abroad, which he called a source of embarrassment for the country. He added that the episode suggested a disregard for people suffering at home.

He also criticised the British government for its involvement in the visit, arguing that its support signalled indifference toward Nigeria’s insecurity challenges.
