The Inspector‑General of Police (IGP), Tunji Disu, has handed over cheques totaling ₦2.4 billion to the relatives of police officers who lost their lives in the line of duty. The event, held at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters in Abuja, was aimed at honouring the sacrifices of the fallen officers.

A total of 1,075 families benefited from the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes, including payouts for some long‑pending claims. The move is part of the force’s efforts to fulfil previous commitments and clear outstanding obligations.

Officials emphasized that the disbursement reflects a renewed focus on personnel welfare, with measures being introduced to improve the processing and management of insurance claims.

In his address, Disu described the financial support as a gesture of respect and recognition for the courage and dedication of officers who made the ultimate sacrifice, pledging ongoing support for both serving personnel and bereaved families.
