FIFA’s independent Ethics Committee has formally opened disciplinary proceedings against three top officials from the Congolese Football Federation over concerns about the handling of FIFA funds.
The investigation targets Jean Guy Mayolas, president of the Congolese federation and a member of FIFA’s Media and Communications Committee, along with Wantete Badji, the general secretary, and Raoul Kanda, the finance director.
FIFA indicated that a review of internal documents revealed possible irregularities and inconsistencies in the use of development funds, prompting the initiation of formal ethics proceedings.
The alleged actions under investigation could violate multiple sections of FIFA’s Code of Ethics, including rules against misuse of funds, falsification of records, conflicts of interest, and improper acceptance of gifts or benefits. FIFA has stated it will not comment further while the inquiry continues.
