A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Laja Adeoye, has declared his intention to defeat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 election, promising what he described as a shift toward accountable and people-focused governance.

In a statement issued on Sunday, Adeoye said many residents of Lagos were growing increasingly dissatisfied with years of APC leadership and were ready for a change in direction.

He said his entry into the race represents an alternative agenda centred on economic development, improved public services and broader inclusion in governance.

Adeoye, a real estate developer and Managing Director of Fendini Limited, stated that his administration would prioritise practical responses to pressing challenges in the state, including housing shortages, unemployment and traffic congestion.

According to him, his experience in the private sector would influence policies aimed at promoting sustainable urban growth and expanding job opportunities across key sectors.

He also disclosed that his ambition had received support from political and civic organisations such as the Lagos for Prosperity Group and members of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, describing the backing as evidence of increasing grassroots momentum among youths, professionals and community stakeholders.

Outlining his priorities, Adeoye said his governance blueprint would focus on education, healthcare, security, housing and economic diversification, alongside reforms in the civil service to enhance efficiency and improve workers’ welfare.

He added that his administration would seek to boost entrepreneurship, develop technology hubs, promote tourism and agriculture, and expand industrial clusters to generate employment and reduce reliance on federal allocations.

On infrastructure, Adeoye pledged to modernise transportation systems through rail expansion, improved Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) operations and road development across the state’s IBILE divisions.

He further promised reforms in environmental management, including improved waste disposal systems and recycling initiatives.

Addressing the rising cost of living, the aspirant said his policies would target job creation, affordable housing and support for small and medium-scale enterprises through improved access to finance, training and markets.

He also pledged measures to reduce multiple taxation and create a more business-friendly environment for investors and local enterprises.

Adeoye emphasised plans to promote youth and women inclusion, expand opportunities within the informal sector, and attract foreign investment by ensuring policy stability, improved infrastructure and investor-friendly incentives.

He said his vision is to position Lagos as a leading investment hub in Africa while ensuring that economic gains are more evenly distributed among residents.

“We will tackle the rising cost of living head-on by creating sustainable jobs through economic diversification, making housing affordable to ease pressure on families, and supporting SMEs and the informal sector with access to finance, training and markets,” he said.

“Policies will focus on reducing dependency on imports by strengthening local production in agriculture and industry, while ensuring efficient public services that lower daily expenses on transport and utilities.

“Prosperity must reach every Lagosian—not just a few. My administration will also address the issue of multiple taxation, which continues to burden businesses,” he added.
